Scholarship Criteria:

  • The S.A. Enlightenment Foundation is currently focused on foreign students, particularly students from the Middle East.
  • The applicant must be between the age of 21 and 35 years old.
  • The candidate must be proficient in English, and will be required to present proof of competency in oral and written English (TOEFL Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum score of 550).
  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of a B average (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) in a related field such as:
    - Science
    - Psychology
    - Engineering
  • The degrees should be from a recognized university.
  • The candidate must complete the S.A.E.F. Application.
  • The candidate must present three letters of recommendation from his/her university professors.
  • The candidate must submit a letter of intent indicating why he/she chooses to pursue a career in the intended area of graduate study.

    Conditions of Award of Scholarship:
  • Scholarships will be granted only to applicants judged by the Scholarship Committee to be capable of high quality results.
  • All successful applicants will be required to provide academic transcripts at the end of each semester/quarter throughout the scholarship duration.
  • The S.A.E.F. encourages scholarship recipients to take a position as a Teaching Assistant or Graduate Researcher, if available, during the second year of graduate study. The amount of the S.A.E.F. grant will be reduced to account for any income received for the position, but will continue to support the student financially for the difference between the salary granted for the position and the scholarship’s committed monthly allowance to the student.
  • All successful applicants are encouraged to gain one year’s work experience in the USA following graduate degree completion, by joining an internship program for one year in the area of study.
  • The S.A. Enlightenment Foundation retains the right to withdraw the offer of a scholarship within twelve months of the award having been made.
